Position Summary

Come join the UNM Health and Health Sciences (UNMHHS) Marketingand Communications family! We are supportive, creative and mission driven team.UNMHHS is seeking a Media Relations Manager to expand and manage the overallmedia relations program for UNMHHS. This role will proactively develop andmaintain effective working relationships with mass media representatives inorder to enhance the overall presence of UNMHHS and to keep our communityinformed with honesty and transparency.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Preference given to candidates with experience working inside a newsroom or with an in-depth working knowledge of New Mexicos news media markets.
  • Must be able to work in an integrated marketing and communication model with the ability to manage relationships with colleagues, internal stakeholders and media from a collaborative perspective.
  • Proven ability to develop relationships with key media professionals.
  • Experience in preparing and pitching press releases and media advisories designed to generate positive coverage as well as handling media inquiries.
  • Media relations experience in a health care setting.
  • Experience in media monitoring tools and reporting.
  • Excellent writing skills and knowledge of AP style.
  • Experience placing bylined articles and op-eds.
